Humane Education Camps

With the information collected from surveys and guidance from the CDC, we have made the following changes to our people programs in regards to Covid-19 and keeping our entire community healthy:

Humane Education Summer Camp (For kids 8-11)

Our popular summer camp offers kids a safe space to grow and develop compassion and empathy skills while learning about our rescued animals in a personal and natural environment.  At Heartland Farm Sanctuary, campers have the opportunity to:

  • Interact with our rescued farm animal residents while providing enriching experiences to their lives at our sanctuary.
  • Enjoy our beautiful pastures, grounds and gardens by taking nature hikes and planting and harvesting fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs.
  • Explore mindful movement and complete fulfilling service projects to benefit the entire sanctuary community.
  • Get creative with photography, art projects and more.

Leadership Camp (for kids 12-15)

Leadership camp is an advanced program for older campers who are interested in taking on more responsibility with our rescued residents. At Leadership Camp, we explore the biological, social, and cognitive needs of farm animals while supporting the direct care of the sanctuary residents and the daily barn routine.

Leadership campers develop self-awareness of others, explore the inner lives and adaptations of rescued farm animals, consider their own compassionate lens on the world, and be challenged to think creatively about how they can make a difference in their communities and beyond.
