Our friend Jillian Swope unexpectedly passed away earlier this month, leaving behind many cherished loved ones, close friends and colleagues. 'Jillian had an ethereal magic about her that manifested not only in her love for crystals and stones, Mother Earth, and her Irish heritage, but more prominently in her fervent approach to life,' wrote her colleagues at Ale Asylum, where she was General Manager. Jillian visited the sanctuary for our Thanksgiving for the Turkeys celebration just last month. It was there that she met some of her favorite Heartland residents: Cookie the dwarf horse, turkey hen Esme and our tiny but mighty rooster, Theo.

Meeting Jillian that day was a delight for all of us at Heartland: Her positive energy, heartwarming smile and adoration for the animals and their stories was palpable. She radiated kindness.
