Heartland Farm Sanctuary has embarked on a $7 million campaign to build a sanctuary of belonging and inclusion, enabling us to serve more children, help more farm animals, and be a long-term resource for our community.
We are looking for philanthropic visionaries who are interested in investing in the future of Heartland Farm Sanctuary. From our therapeutic programming for children to our rescued animal residents, everyone belongs at Heartland. Your partnership will change lives, creating a ripple effect of compassion, sustainability, and kindness in our community.

My granddaughter has autism, with tons of fears and anxiety. Heartland has given her a place to feel free to be herself with full acceptance. She develops relationships with the animals and staff that stay in her heart. She’s [also] become verbal—even to the point where she is starting to advocate for herself! Her confidence has grown tremendously and Heartland has been a huge reason for that. —Grandmother of Heartland therapy participant
Our daughter attended several camps through the summer and the fall. She adores Heartland Farm Sanctuary…Having her spend time outside, connecting with nature and animals in a warm and positive environment, has been such a great experience for her, especially during the pandemic when everything else that she is used to is different. She comes home happy and excited and full of information to share. We couldn’t be happier. — Mom of Heartland camper
I work at a small animal hospital in the south suburbs of Chicago. One day, someone rushed in a piglet who had fallen out of a transport truck on the interstate. We fixed him up and then set about looking for a place for him to go. I was so relieved to have found somewhere as amazing as Heartland, where Maxwell can live out his entire piggy life happy and well cared for and loved! Thank you Heartland for everything you do for the animals, children, and the community! You make a difference, and I will be forever thankful for you! —Katie, vet tech who helped rescue sweet Maxwell
