Popcorn is a love. He loves affection, including cheek and chin rubs. He also loves meal times, snacking on lettuce and being read to by Heartland's volunteers, campers and therapy participants.

About Popcorn

Popcorn (along with his best bud, Tofu, who sadly passed away in the summer of 2023) were rescued from the annual Kaporos rituals in 2017. Thousands of chickens are sacrificed during Kaporos, but thankfully, hundreds of animal-lovers were on-site to save who they could, and Popcorn and Tofu made it out alive. Popcorn is a Cornish Cross chicken, a breed made to grow very large very quickly. With proper diet, exercise and vet care, they can live long and healthy lives. Popcorn is incredibly affectionate and loves to sit right in your lap if you sit down anywhere near him. Popcorn's buddy Tofu passed away suddenly from a heart attack in the summer of 2023. Popcorn definitely misses his best friend, but is soaking up the individual attention from our community, including stroller rides around the sanctuary courtesy of our volunteers and therapy participants.
