Gentle, wise and kind. Opal is also a natural "caretaker" and will gravitate to anyone who might be having a difficult day.
Climbing on the pasture shelters to sunbathe on the roof, getting head rubs and scratches, napping in weird locations!
Opal came to Heartland after being rescued from a hoarding case, where the animals were neglected and did not receive any veterinary care. Opal was pregnant and malnourished when Heartland rescued her and sadly lost her baby not long after arriving at our sanctuary. Today, Opal is a happy, healthy goat. A couple of years ago, Opal broke off one of her horns in an accident, and although our vet tried to re-attached the horn, it didn't work. Now Opal lives her life as a "magical unicorn" (as our campers call her) and to be honest she's never been more fierce.
Your tax-deductible donation to Heartland Farm Sanctuary allows us to care for farm animals in need and operate our unique people programs that inspire compassion for all beings.
