About Jemma

Jemma, Annie and Ms. Everdeen were rescued from a turkey farm by a Heartland supporter just before Thanksgiving in 2014. Shortly after they arrived at our sanctuary, they were able to partake in our annual Thanksgiving for the Turkeys event, and life has been sweet for the girls ever since. Since Broad Breasted White Turkeys are bred to grow very large, very quickly, we keep the girls on a restricted diet and make sure they get plenty of gentle, safe exercise. Jemma has started to develop mobility difficulties, so our staff carefully transport Jemma when she needs to travel in and out of the barn. While Annie passed away in 2021, Ms. Everdeen and Jemma continue to be the best of pals.
