Visit our Sanctuary

Please note that due to the current avian flu outbreak, our sanctuary tours are currently on hold to protect the health of our rescued flock. Please stay tuned to this page for further updates.

Public tours (Currently on hold)

Starting March 19th, Heartland Farm Sanctuary will be open for public tours of our sanctuary on Saturday afternoons. Tours are 50 minutes long and are for ages 5 and up. The fee is $12/person and all guests (including kids 5 and older) must be registered one at a time.

All guests must sign our visitor waiver before arriving at the sanctuary (parents sign on behalf of their children). Find the waiver here.

Please note that public tours are 50 minutes long and involve a lot of walking, talking and manure. 🙂 We want everyone to have a fun, enjoyable and safe experience while visiting the sanctuary, and we’ve found that children do best with appropriate adult support.

Private tours (Currently on hold)

Heartland Farm Sanctuary’s private tours give you a behind-the-scenes look at sanctuary life. Private tours are 75 minutes long, which gives you extra time to spend with your favorite rescued residents and even do a special enrichment activity with an animal group. All ages are welcome on private tours. At this time, we are offering private tours on Thursday and Fridays after 10:30 AM, and on some Saturday afternoons after 2 pm. To schedule yours, please email VisitUs@HeartlandFarmSanctuary.org. Our private tour fees are below:

  • For groups between 1-5 people, our private tour fee is $150.
  • For groups between 6-10, the fee is $175.
  • For groups 11-15, the fee is $200.

Cancellation policy: Private tour cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made after that time will be considered a tax-deductible donation.

Important notes about visiting us:

  • We are not open for drop-in visitors. All visits to the sanctuary must be scheduled ahead of time, as our staff are busy caring for our rescued animals and running our people programs.
  • All guests must sign our online waiver before arriving at the sanctuary. Parents can sign on behalf of their children. Find the waiver here.
  • If you are feeling ill or are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms (temperature, fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) PLEASE STAY HOME. You can find Heartland’s updated Covid policies here.
  • Please arrive on time for your scheduled tour time, and wait under our pavilion where the HFS tour guide will meet you.
  • Conditions at the sanctuary can be muddy and slippery. Please wear appropriate, close-toed shoes or boots and watch your step!
  • Please wash your hands at the handwashing stations before and after the tour.
  • All food and snacks should be left in your vehicle.

Muddy Boots Disclaimer:

Conditions at the barn are sometimes muddy. Wear appropriate (close-toed) shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants are best. You may want to bring along a filled water bottle for hot days. Tours are held rain or shine!
