Visit our Sanctuary

Heartland Farm Sanctuary offers several opportunities to visit with our rescued residents and learn about our sanctuary – whether you’re doing that virtually or in-person! Explore our visiting options below. Please note that we are not open for drop-in visits.

Public tours

Heartland Farm Sanctuary offers public  tours of the sanctuary every Saturday afternoon at 1 pm. Tours are 60 minutes long and are for ages 5 and up. The fee is $12/person and all guests (including kids 5 and older) must be registered one at a time.

For the safety of our staff, volunteers and the community, facemasks are required for all tour guests while touring indoor areas of the sanctuary. Outdoors, masks are not required.

Total capacity for public tours is 15 people, so please note that you will most likely be touring the sanctuary with people outside of your household. While touring indoor areas of the sanctuary, please maintain social distancing with anyone not in your household.  You can find all of Heartland’s updated Covid policies here.

Please note: Our last public tour of 2021 is December 18th.

Private tours

Private tours allow a more in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at life at our sanctuary. Private tours are 90 minutes long and can be booked on the day and time that works for you. All ages are welcome.

Private tour fees:

  • Groups between 1-5 people = $100
  • Groups between 6-10 = $200
  • Groups between 11-15 = $250
  • Groups between 16-20 people = $300
Please note: Our private tour season will end for the year on November 30th.

Cancellation policy: Private tour cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance. Cancellations made after that time will be considered a tax-deductible donation.

Important notes about visiting us:

  • We are not open for drop-in visitors. All visits to the sanctuary must be scheduled ahead of time, as our staff are busy caring for our rescued animals and running our people programs.
  • All guests must sign our online waiver before arriving at the sanctuary. Parents can sign on behalf of their children. Find the waiver here.
  • For the safety of our staff and volunteers, facemasks are required while touring indoor areas of the sanctuary. Unfortunately, we do not have extra masks at the sanctuary, so please remember to bring a mask from home. If you are feeling ill or are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms (temperature, fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, etc.) PLEASE STAY HOME. You can find Heartland’s updated Covid policies here.
  • Please arrive on time for your scheduled tour time, and wait under our pavilion where the HFS tour guide will meet you.
  • Conditions at the sanctuary can be muddy and slippery. Please wear appropriate, close-toed shoes or boots and watch your step!
  • Please wash your hands at the handwashing stations before and after the tour.
  • While at the sanctuary, please maintain social distancing with anyone not in your household.
  • All food and snacks should be left in your vehicle.

Muddy Boots Disclaimer:

Conditions at the barn are sometimes muddy. Wear appropriate (close-toed) shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Long pants are best. You may want to bring along a filled water bottle for hot days. Tours are held rain or shine!
