Something to Cluck About

Our community needs Heartland to provide refuge for more animals and accommodate people of all ages and all abilities, in all seasons, for our groundbreaking education and therapy programs – so in 2014, we made a bold move. WE BOUGHT THE FARM!

Heartland is now embarking on the biggest endeavor of its life – the HEARTLAND HOMESTEAD CAMPAIGN – to purchase the farm property, renovate the existing barn, and build a new facility for our people programs.

We need YOU to make the HOMESTEAD CAMPAIGN a dream come true. With your generous gifts we can…

  • Own the Farm – The farm property purchase includes 80 beautiful acres in the driftless region of Wisconsin, just 10 minutes from the West Towne Mall. The restored prairie, pasture, and forest provides the ideal habitat for our rescue and education programs.
  • Renovate the Barn – Much work needs to be done to bring our barn up to standards, including significant infrastructure needs (water lines, electricity, and septic system) and major interior construction to provide additional animal housing stalls and an emergency rescue and rehabilitation facility.
  • Build the Healing & Growing Center – This new facility will allow us to offer animal-assisted therapy for youth and families, humane education tours, and Camp Heartland programs year-round. The new building will house classrooms and therapy rooms, offices, and group meeting spaces.
