Rex came to our sanctuary after his family reached out to Heartland for help. They were a little afraid of Rex and he had been living alone since his hen companion passed away. They also felt that he was too rough with hens (which can happen when there are not enough hens in a group) so they didn't want to get another chicken companion for him. Since getting to know Rex, we've found that he is one of the sweetest roosters we've met. While he sometimes rushes at people when they first enter his space, we've found that if you just calmly stand still, he'll give you a gentle tap on your boot and continue on his merry way. Rex is officially off quarantine and has moved down to the barn, so he's already making himself at home.
