Youth with Special Needs

Youth with Special Needs

Heartland’s quiet and safe environment is the perfect place for children with a cognitive, emotional, or social disability to experience unconditional love from our animals and staff. After being rescued, our animals become ambassadors of healing and acceptance; they are full of love, and ready to share that love with the children they help!

Through connecting with and giving back to our rescued animals by meeting their daily needs (feeding, grooming, cuddling), youth develop practical life skills, a sense of accomplishment, and the courage to work toward their potential. Both individuals and groups of special needs youth can have programs designed specifically to address needed areas, such as effective communication, teamwork, and gross/fine motor skills.
