Bequest Gifts

Honoring your lifetime commitment to creating a more compassionate world.

Continue your legacy of compassion and kindness by leaving a bequest gift to Heartland Farm Sanctuary. Your bequest may provide a gift that will allow us to build needed animal care facilities at our sanctuary, support our experiential therapy programs, or enable our humane education and outreach efforts to create a more loving world for all.

Your will –with a stated bequest gift — is a legal document, and we recommend you consult a lawyer to write and/or make modifications in your will.  Every state has specific procedures for wills and the distribution of estates that must be followed or your will could be deemed invalid. Without a will, or if your will is invalid, your property and life savings will be distributed according to the laws of your state and without regard to your wish to create a more compassionate world for all.

What Can I Give?

  • A fixed dollar amount
  • Property (residence, farm, land, etc.)
  • Stock gift(s)
  • Personal property  (jewelry, antiques, artwork, etc)
  • A percentage of your total estate, a percentage of your estate, or the residual of your estate after other bequests are paid

How Do I Give?

If you already have a will, you can simply write your wishes on a piece of paper, sign and date it in the presence of two witnesses who will not benefit from the change and attach it to your will (sample language below). This is called a codicil to your will, and we would be happy to provide you a sample codicil at your request.

We would be grateful to know if you have included Heartland in your estate plans if you would like to share this information with us. If we can be of assistance, or you would like to discuss your bequest gift for Heartland, please contact us at (608) 440-1118 or email info@HeartlandFarmSanctuary.org.

Sample Language:
