Hi! My name is Sonny, and I am an ambassador of Heartland Farm Sanctuary. We’ve likely already met if you’ve ever seen our Farm on Wheels. I’ve been to the Children’s Museum, nursing homes, grocery stores, and barn dances.
Chicken
Male
March 2011
Sonny was surrendered to Heartland by a middle school student who had taken him home after an egg-hatching project at school. As a hatchling, Sonny quickly bonded with his human caregiver, and would peep endlessly each time his "mom" left the room. Realizing that raising a chick would be a huge commitment, she brought Sonny to Heartland's barn where he could live happily ever after. Only problem is, Sonny was too young to survive at the barn, so he lived at Dana's house for 2 months. He enjoyed taking "dirt baths" on the living room carpet, and perching on Dana's shoulder while she worked on her laptop. Now grown, Sonny gets along great with the other barn chickens and often gets out in the community as an ambassador of Heartland.
Acts tough; really a softie at heart. Loves falling asleep in the barn manager, Sarah's arms.
Running sideways and pretending to attack your feet, then delivering a gentle peck to your shoelace.
